ABOUT US
The Victoria Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (VCPAC) advocates for the right and success of every student and supports meaningful parent engagement in the public education system within School District 61 (SD 61). It is also the umbrella organization for School District 61 Parent Advisory Councils.
Every school in the district has a Parent Advisory Council which advocate for the right of students and parents within their school.
Each of these PACs is a VCPAC member, advising VCPAC Executives on issues of importance to their parent community.
Under provincial legislation, the School Act, the purpose of district parents' advisory council is to advise the board on any matter relating to education in the school district.
VCPAC purposes as outlined in our constitution are:
to advocate for the rights and support the success of every student,
to promote and support meaningful Parent engagement in the public education system, and
to advise the Greater Victoria Board of Education on any matters relating to public education in School District 61
To attend all VCPAC meetings and represent, speak and vote on behalf of the PAC
To dialogue with PAC to find the best ways VCPAC can service them
To report regularly to the membership and executive on all matters relating to VCPAC
To lead discussions on issues where VCPAC is requiring feedback
To give input to VCPAC on behalf of the PAC
To receive, circulate and post VCPAC newsletters, brochures and announcements
To receive and act on all other communications from VCPAC
To encourage parent participation in VCPAC sponsored activities
To liaise with other parents and VCPAC representatives
