On June 9th, the evening of the music department's concert and BBQ,  Colquitz staff will be hosting a silent auction to benefit Youth and Family Counsellor, Wendy Lubinich.  The Colquitz Parent Advisory Council would like to show their support by providing a basket for the auction.   If you, or any of your friends or neighbours, have items or services you are able to donate, please contact me (see contact us menu item) to arrange for a pick up or bring them to the school office.

Thank you,

Dropping Off and Picking Up your Child from School PDF Print E-mail

The front driveway and roundabout at the front of the school is closed to traffic. We began this practice a couple of years ago after many close calls and near collisions between cars and kids, and between vehicles. The only traffic we are allowing into the   roundabout is the Third Wave bus for special needs students, parents' vehicles of special needs children, delivery vans and school district maintenance vehicles. The main doors for the school are adjacent to the roundabout and our students gather and hang out in these areas in the morning, throughout the day and after school. Therefore, we want to keep traffic in the roundabout to a minimum in order to keep our students safe and for the school bus to have a place to park in order to pick up students. Please note: If you don’t have a handicapped decal, you are not allowed to park in the handicapped parking spots. Please keep these spots available for the parents of our handicapped students. We have a number of families with handicapped needs.

Parents are not to park in the circle and front driveway of the school at the end of the day, waiting for students to be dismissed. We are asking parents to drop their children off at the pull-offs on Dumeresq Street and at the back turnabout lot at Brunswick Street in the morning. For afternoon pick ups, we are insisting that parents only use the Brunswick Street turnabout lot because of the awful traffic snarl on Dumeresq Street between 2:45 and 3:15 p.m. each day. To get to the Brunswick Street turnabout area, please follow Dumeresq Street to Raymond Street South, turn right (south) past Cadillac Avenue to Brunswick Place, turn right (west) on Brunswick Place. At the gates of the parking lot, keep to the right. We are trying to be good neighbours for the residents of Dumeresq and ask that you not park illegally or in driveways on Dumeresq, and please do not make any u-turns on Dumeresq St. We are asking for cooperation and patience from our parents on this issue. I want to thank those parents who have been dropping off and picking up their children in the designated areas. We are very concerned, though, about the individuals who are driving unsafely at the front of the school by doing u-turns across Dumeresq Street after dropping off or picking up their children. A reminder that u-turns are illegal and they also put our students, who are walking to or from school, at risk. Thank you for your cooperation!
